MATERIALS
Luxury begins before design.
At CASSINO, materials are not a detail. They are the foundation of everything we create.
Every hide is selected for integrity, traceability, and how it will age over time — because true luxury is measured in years, not seasons.
OUR MATERIAL PHILOSOPHY
Truth over trend.
We choose materials for what they are — not for what they can be made to imitate.
We avoid artificial correction, unnecessary embossing, and shortcuts that sacrifice longevity. The goal is simple: pieces that develop character, not wear out.
The highest luxury is honesty.
CARPINCHO (CAPYBARA) LEATHER
A rare material native to South America.
Carpincho — known internationally as capybara — is the largest rodent in the world and is native exclusively to South America. Its leather is valued for its natural texture, softness, and refined character.
Carpincho (capybara) leather is not mass-accessible. It is regulated, scarce, and sourced legally through Argentina.
Some materials cannot be manufactured. They must be earned.
WHY CARPINCHO (CAPYBARA) IS SO DESIRED
A luxury you can feel.
Carpincho (capybara) leather offers qualities that make it uniquely sought after:
- β Natural texture with unmistakable character
- β Breathability for comfort in warm and transitional climates
- β Softness with resilience, balancing feel and durability
- β Lightweight structure, ideal for pieces worn close to the body
- β Aging with depth, developing patina and personality over time
No two hides are the same, and no two finished pieces can ever be identical.
Rarity is visible. Quality is felt.
COLOR & TINTING
A spectrum without losing the grain.
Carpincho (capybara) leather accepts pigment in a way that preserves its natural texture. Color settles into the surface rather than masking it — creating depth instead of uniformity.
This allows CASSINO to offer a unique spectrum of tones while keeping the leather’s character intact.
Color should reveal — not conceal.
CASA CARPINCHO
Our exclusive source in Argentina.
CASSINO works with Casa Carpincho, Argentina’s most established and respected house specializing in carpincho (capybara) leather.
Their scale, expertise, and grading standards define the benchmark for this material. Our partnership is built on traceability, quality control, and long-term integrity.
Great materials come from great relationships.
QUALITY TIERS
Not all carpincho (capybara) leather is equal.
Carpincho (capybara) leather is graded across four quality tiers:
FIRST QUALITY
Highest integrity, best grain, minimal imperfections
SECOND QUALITY
Natural variation suitable for select use
THIRD QUALITY
Increased markings and inconsistency
FOURTH QUALITY
Lowest grade, generally unsuitable for luxury production
CASSINO’s Estrella pieces are crafted using First Quality carpincho (capybara) leather — a level of access made possible through our partnership with Casa Carpincho.
The difference is not described. It is obvious.
PREMIUM ARGENTINE COW LEATHER
Refined, enduring, and essential.
For Palermo and Recoleta, we use premium Argentine cow leather selected for:
- β Balanced softness and structure
- β Longevity under daily wear
- β Natural character that develops over time
- β Comfort and resilience across seasons
This is the backbone of everyday luxury — quiet, dependable, and timeless.
The everyday deserves the best.
LAMBSWOOL (CORDERO) FOR BARILOCHE
Warmth built into the design.
Bariloche pieces incorporate lambswool (corderito) to provide:
- β Natural insulation
- β Breathability and comfort in cold climates
- β Softness without heaviness
- β Protection in harsh winter conditions
It is luxury that performs — without becoming technical gear.
Comfort is a form of strength.
ETHICAL SOURCING & TRACEABILITY
Responsibility is part of craft.
CASSINO prioritizes traceability, legal sourcing, and responsible partnerships. We operate with intention — limiting scale to maintain quality, respect the material, and protect the integrity of the house.
Luxury without responsibility is incomplete.
CARE & LONGEVITY
Made to age beautifully.
Our materials are selected to evolve. With proper care, leather becomes softer, richer, and more personal over time.
Recommended care:
- β Store away from prolonged humidity and direct heat
- β Avoid oversaturation with water
- β Clean gently with appropriate leather care products
- β Allow pieces to rest between wears when possible
What is respected lasts.
FINAL CLOSING
Material is the message. At CASSINO, design begins with integrity. The rest is refinement.
